SHADOW PUPPETRY WITH CORINA BONA OLLETT
“Where the shadows come to play.”
Step downstairs at the Biblioteca Municipal into a candlelit world where silhouettes dance across lit screens — the ancient art of shadow puppetry, in the hands of Corina Bona Ollett.
Across many cultures and millennia — long before cinema, before even the printed word — shadow puppetry was how we told our stories to one another. A flickering lamp. A translucent screen. Cut-paper figures brought to life by hand. Nothing but light, shadow, and imagination.
Corina is an international theatre practitioner, puppet-maker, and educator with more than 18 years of experience across renowned UK and Portuguese theatre companies. She brings stories to life through handmade puppetry and creative storytelling — whimsical, warm, and designed especially for children and families.
For one evening, she brings this quiet magic to Pedrógão Grande. Stories told without a single word. Characters conjured out of darkness. A show that enchants children — and reminds grown-ups what wonder feels like.
A perfect pause mid-way through Saturday’s Trick-or-Treat walk: a moment of hush and marvel before the little ones head back out into the night.
