Dina Oliveira

Dina E. M. Oliveira, or D.E.M.O., is a painter, singer, and interior designer. Born in Porto in 1978, she spent much of her life in Brussels, where she studied and worked in architecture and interior design while maintaining an active artistic practice.

Since 2022, she has lived in central Portugal. Trained in Interior Design, Public Works, and Urban Planning at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, she also studied painting at the city’s School of Fine Arts. Her work is developed primarily through expressionist abstract painting, mostly in acrylic on canvas, occasionally using pastels and other media. Her work explores layers of vivid colour and textured material, which overlap like different stages of life crystallising into moments suspended in time. Influenced by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, the CoBrA movement, various abstract expressionist painters, and above all Francis Bacon, D.E.M.O. allows these references to emerge through the emotional force and chromatic intensity of her paintings.
